Baby's Nine-Month Portrait Session | Northern Virginia Family Photographer

ON HER WAY TO INDEPENDENCE!

At 9 months old, Hailey is a little doll, secure in her parents' love but a little apprehensive about strangers.  She can sit up, crawl, and, most recently, pull herself up to a standing position with the help of furniture.  In her 9-month milestone portrait session, we wanted to capture how she looks, how she interacts, and how far her skills have progressed since her 6-month session.

In the featured portrait above, she is dressed in one the Studio's beautiful lace dresses.  I picked the textured gray backdrop to complement this choice in clothing and used an Amish-built step stool as the posing aid.  Although we gently kept trying to have her sit on the stool, she'd have nothing to do with it (even when mom was near).  But she did enjoy using the stool to stand up.  We of course worked with what she was willing to give us!

I enjoy how this portrait succeeds in capturing today's little Hailey.  As she supports herself somewhat precariously on the stool, you see how little and doll-like she is.  Her smile is genuine but reticent.  And, if you look closely, it reveals a mouth with just two little teeth.

A precious moment.  A precious memory.
