What a difference a year makes!  One-year-olds are still babies; but, it's almost unfair to call a two-year-old a baby anymore.

They understand so much more about the world. They are increasing verbal and surprisingly mobile.  It's hard to keep up!

The key to a portrait session with a two-year-old is simple (in theory if not in practice):  They love to play and act silly.  You have to keep the fun quotient high.

I love this studio portrait of Gavin at age 2.  What great presence and poise in front of the camera!  This gesture of body position, with arms behind his back, is so distinctively Gavin at this age -- his way of expressing unabashed delight.  I love it!

I also like his direct gaze, his natural smile, and that Clark Kent curl.

And I get lost in those eyes every time.
