Shahla and Tom's Ashburn Engagement Session | Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer

Northern Virginia wedding and portrait photographer Roger Hammons shares an engagement session portrait of Shahla and Tom at a park near the photographer's Ashburn portrait photography studio.

UPLIFTING LOVE.

Shahla and Tom met and fell in love at medical school.  Last Monday, they took a well-deserved break from the rigors of their ongoing career training to celebrate their engagement in front of my camera.

For their engagement photography session, we went to one of my favorite parks near my Ashburn, Virginia portrait studio.  I selected the park because Shahla planned to dress up and I needed a nature setting with a "heels-friendly" walking path.  It worked out beautifully.

We walked and talked -- and they laughed and kissed and snuggled -- as we went from one inspiring location to the next.  And the early evening light was incredible!

We created so many beautiful, romantic portraits that it was hard to pick one favorite to highlight in this "sneak peek" blogpost.

I finally chose this fun photograph of Shahla leaping into Tom's arms.  I love its soft quality of light and the lushness of the tall grasses that wind in an S-curve around them.  I love how they look at each other, how they embrace.  I love how effortless it all seems.

I am reminded of the saying:  "So head-over-heels in love, she's walking on air."

Congratulations, Shahla and Tom!  May your life together be long and happy.
