Quirky Vintage Tricycle for Children's Portraits | Northern Virginia Portrait Photographer

Natural light portrait of multi-racial boy on a quirky vintage red tricycle taken outside his home by Northern Virginia wedding and portrait photographer Roger Hammons.

This quirky vintage tricycle really amuses me!  I found it recently at an antique store in central Virginia, and it's now a new prop in the studio.

In its simplicity -- just red metal tubing, black metal seat, black rubber wheels -- the design is rather clever.  But, it looks odd, backwards, quirky, fun.  You just don't build a tricycle that way -- at least not anymore.  I love it!

And toddlers seem to love it as much as I do.  It's been a big hit, even for children as old as four years.  In this informal, natural light portrait of Gavin, you can see the unfettered joy in his wide grin.  He just had to ride that red trike.

As a studio prop, the tricycle encourages a lovely natural pose.  I like how Gavin's hands grip the steering loop, and I love the gesture of his feet resting on the wheel and axle.

As for Gavin, he's quite the humdinger on that three wheeler!  I love it.
