NORTHERN VIRGINIA PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO

Roger Hammons Photography LLC celebrates love and people in love through memorable, beautifully presented images.

My professional photography studio is located in Ashburn, Virginia, between Dulles International Airport and Leesburg, just north of the Brambleton shopping center.

In addition to studio portraits, I love to photograph environmental portraits on location.

Most of my professional photography work is in the greater metropolitan DC area (Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia), but I do accept commissions nationwide.

My award-winning portrait photography has won local and international awards including Fujifilm Masterpiece awards (wedding category) and merited images at the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) International Print Competition.

Please check out my blog -- which is devoted to my wedding photography, portrait photography, and fine art photography -- for additional examples and descriptions of my ongoing work. In each post, I try to explain what intrigues me about each featured photograph and how it was created.

In March 2019, for example, I did a pregnancy portrait session on location at Landsdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia for one of my prior wedding couples. The weather was cold, but we did a variety of indoor and outdoor locations for a super-creative session.

If you're earlier in your romance, perhaps you'll enjoy the blog post in which I present an environmental, relationship portrait of an engaged couple taken at a lovely park near my Ashburn photography studio. A portrait is an environmental portrait if there is an emphasis of showing both the subject and the place. A relationship portrait is one in which the subjects are shown relating to one another instead of engaging the camera. I also blogged about a series of recent portraits of two teenage sisters, one 15 and one 13 years old. In our session, we collaborated on a variety of different looks, each producing a strikingly beautiful portrait. Also, check out my blog about a first year anniversary portrait for a couple whose wedding I photographed last year. Their family now includes a dog, Wally, the star of their new family portrait!
