OH WHAT A NIGHT!
On a chilly November night, Debi and Sam were married in a lovely ceremony outside the beautiful barn at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia. Originally, their ceremony was going to be held inside, but their wedding day turned out to be warmer than the past November days have been. So the bride and groom opted to go for an outdoor nighttime ceremony under the twinkling patio lights instead.
After the ceremony, everyone hurried inside, for an elegant dinner party in the well-heated barn.
During the dinner, Debi's father recalled that Debi was a "girly girl" when she was little. She was into frilly princess dresses, which she wore in the cold without a coat so as not to ruin the look. Later, she had a tomboy stage, but the frilly princess in the cold was the story that stuck in my mind.
About 10:15 pm, the couple and I ventured outside for a few romantic portraits under the sparkling lights. It wasn't just chilly then; it was cold! As I watched Debi in her beautiful princess gown, without a shawl or coat, I was reminded of her dad's story. While Sam and I were shivering in our jackets, Debi assured us that she was too excited to feel the cold and wanted to continue taking photographs.
This is one of my favorite portraits from the late evening session. I love how the strings of lights have become a swarm of little heart-shaped butterflies. Romance is in the air! I love how comfortable Debi and Sam look in each other's arms. And, by the smiles that light up their faces, you can tell they're enjoying the night.
Best wishes, Debi and Sam, for a long and meaningful marriage, especially one full of warmth!
