Four-Month Baby PortraitAt four months old, the baby is curious about the world. In additional smiling faces (which four-month olds can also do!), it is great to be able to capture that part of their existence, too.

Like everyone, I love portraits of happy, smiling babies!  At four months of age, a baby can smile for her parents, and those smiles are so endearing.  For a four-month-old's session, I always work hard to capture such a portrait.  (See, for example, my Happy Faces blog post!)

But I also love natural, in-the-moment, more enigmatic portraits.  In particular, at four months of age, a baby is becoming more and more aware of the world, and her brain is trying to figure out how it all works.  Capturing those looks are precious, too!

I love this portrait from Hailey's four month session.  It is not about a smile but about those amazing, beautiful eyes.  Hailey seems intrigued by what's going on, open to the possibilities, taking it all in.   

As she reacts to my silly noises and gestures, I am sure she agrees with Alice:  "Curiouser and curiouser!"
