Mark and Jessica wanted their engagement session to be in Old Town Alexandria, while I was looking for a fun couple to do a sunrise engagement session at Jones Point Park in Alexandria. Obviously, we were meant for each other!
On the day of the session, icy remnants of snow were still on the ground from the March snow storm. Before the sun rose, the morning was quite chilly. Mark and Jessica, however, were northern-midwest tough and brought mother Kay to hold their heavy coats and scarves while they posed. (Being more of a Southern weather-wimp, I kept my down jacket and knit cap snugly in place!)
The above featured image is one of the first captures in our session. I love the beautiful kiss under the moonlight by the white picket fence by the bay. I enjoy the triangular composition formed by the couple on the lower left, the shed and graceful tree on the upper right, and the moon so brilliantly lit by a sun still hidden.
A few minutes later, the sun will burst over the horizon behind me to my left, flooding the area with warm yellow light. In the meantime, I am entranced by the ethereal blue colors just before dawn. I am swept away.
An appropriate title for this portrait might be "Love Warms the Morning."
